Overview

This course is designed to provide high quality, cost effective, didactic education to nurses new to the field of Maternal-Child Nursing. The course is intended to augment the hospital clinical orientation to the obstetrical and neonatal units. All RNs and LPNs interested in these areas are invited to attend.

Basic course content includes physiology, assessment, diagnostic techniques, care planning, medical and nursing therapeutics and evaluation of nursing care. Directions for simulation and Hands-on learning is incorporated frequently throughout the class material. Attendance for the entire day is expected.

Precepted perinatal clinical experience on non-class days is encouraged for the successful application of class content.

Lecture begins promptly at 0800.

Faculty

The classes will be taught by clinical experts from throughout Southwest Washington.

Continuing education credits will not be provided, however attendees will be given a certificate of attendance.
